European Registration Scheme (ERS) was established in 1995 and based in Chesterfield. In 2008 ERS moved to Kings Lynn in Norfolk under the new management of Steve Smith who has continued to provide an impartial certification service to the building service industries. ERS is accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO/IEC 17024 General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.
ERS was the first organisation to gain accreditation from UKAS as a Certification Body for the Oil Industry Scheme (OFTEC). In 1998, ERS staff gained a further first in achieving UKAS accreditation to offer the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS). ERS was the only certification body to gain INAB Accreditation to offer certification of gas engineers in Ireland and more recently gained further scope extension by UKAS for the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) gas certification scheme for engineers in Ireland.
ERS is structured to give confidence in our independence, impartiality, technical competence and integrity to the assessment process so that installers, employers and customers can be assured of the competence of certificated persons.
